The Mediterranean Diet is the most researched diet showing many health benefits such as: reduces the risk of cancer and heart disease, protective against diabetes type 2, it is anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing, and can help you maintain a healthy weight. This is the diet I recommend in clinic as a long term maintenance plan because research shows it works. It is abundant in vegetables which means lots of fibre to aid digestion and elimination. It is rich in good fats like olive oil, nuts and avocado, and low on red meat and dairy.
